Material is 6x50mm so also a little too heavy duty. They have three leaves, two of which are usable. I'm figuring that I can weld some mounting eyes to the second leaves which are 600mm long to make another pair of springs. The longer springs could be chopped down and used as 1/4 ellipticals on another build.

Was hoping that these could be a potential source of springs but alas the search continues.

    • Interestingly...

Spring rate for the single leaf at 750mm eye to eye is 89.23 lb/inch
Spring rate for the Renegade Cyclekart springs is 103.57Interestingly...

Spring rate for the single leaf at 750mm eye to eye is 89.23 lb/inch
Spring rate for the Renegade Cyclekart springs is 103.57 lb/inch

So the additional length reduces the spring rate to an acceptable level.

    • BTW The 600mm length gives 174.28 lb/inch - a little on the high side.

    • Looking really good. I guess the big question is... are you going to paint it? It almost seems a shame to cover that lovely bodywork

    • Mick I'm thinking probably not. Might have to try and buff some of the scratches out but I like the raw ally look

    Austin Seven special

Sharing details and photos from my cyclekart build. Inspiration is the Austin Seven 'White Rabbit', a special which was rebuilt from the wreck of a prior racer in the mid 1930's and went on to (believe it or not) race at LeMans in 1937 or so.

Bentley4 1/2 Liter Style "Old Number one"
Seems like I'm not the first to make a Bentley. This one is rather nice looking and built by Frank Bankonin in Germany.

Started mocking up the suspension today. Yes, I know its upside down but I am just testing everything for sizing, width etc.

I have these solid 50mmdia x 30mm discs for the front, they will get recessed into the end of the chassis for a nice round look, and will also support the end of the spring. I haven't cut the shape in yet as I don't want...

I made up these 50x10 SHS pieces for the end of the springs to slide in.

  • I'm using a 75 x 25 section for the chassis. I have tapered the front. I haven't welded it yet as I may change my mind on the angle. Doing it all in stainless so for.

Cut up the frame and laid it out on the fabrication table. I'm happy with the dimensions.

    Pinky's Pocket Rocket

    Hi all.

Been a long time coming, and a couple of years collecting parts, but I'm finally ready to start on my first Cyclekart. I have enough parts to make 2, but I'm hoping to make 4 so we call enjoy them. I may start a YouTube channel for this build, I'll see how I go. Just pics for now.

    • This is kinda cool and a bit like the Pembleton T24 in that its a modern take on a pre-war car. The Bentley Blower Junior is an 85% scaled downThis is kinda cool and a bit like the Pembleton T24 in that its a modern take on a pre-war car. The Bentley Blower Junior is an 85% scaled down version of the original and has an electric power plant. Seating configuration is very much like a CycleKart with a centrally mounted single seat, but the larger scale allows for a passenger seat behind the driver. It's a really cool thing, but the price tag of $175,000 is verging on ridiculous.  More ...

  • The rear axle is an improved version, the wheels are mounted in there natural state with little side pressure required.
Have a close look at the pictures.
It also has thread on the outside to allow for mounting Spinners.
I am very happy with the final result.
